 PARKING UPDATE 6/2/22

We’ve seen so much rain in Whatcom County since November and flooding that caused so much devastation leading to federal disaster designation.  We waited until the last minute to see if fields designated for parking on June 4th would be dry enough to mow.  They are not.

The last week has seen us scrambling to find suitable alternatives and we now have a plan that will work if everyone does their part.

We will first park cars on one side of the paved road into the golf course.  When those spots are filled we have alternate lots available one mile away in a 5 acre field and in two church parking lots.

We have designated parking for food and merchandise vendors and for vehicles carrying large amounts of band or athletic equipment.  Beyond that, individuals with tents and canopies will be required to park in general parking.

We are working with Whatcom County Sheriff deputies who will be directing traffic and assisting us throughout the day.  We also have two high school teams and adult supervisors to handle parking.

We hired a bus company to transport people in two buses back and forth from parking from 8:30 AM to 6 PM.  There should not be longer than a 10 minute wait for a ride throughout the day.

If you are coming to North Bellingham Golf Course from I-5 and Northwest Avenue to the Smith Road, please watch for parking signs just after the soccer complex.  If you see a sign please stop and enter parking there.  Heading further down Smith Road will mean you will have to turn around and come back.

We ask for your understanding and cooperation as we change directions at the last minute.  The plan will work if everyone remains calm and works with us.  If 10 minutes is too long for you to wait there are options for taxis and Uber rides a phone call away.

We very much appreciate the support we have seen from our community and will do everything possible to make sure you have an enjoyable day.
